
The GOA Tourism Department has issued notices to several hotels under relevant sections of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act since they are not registered with the department. In a press statement, the department gave the names of these hotels and warned these hotels to register as soon as possible, otherwise, actions will be taken.
Besides this, the department gave orders of charging a fine of INR 1 lakh if they failed to register. Also, charges include disconnection of water and electricity connection and may seal the hotel premises if required.
The Department also engaged police in the matter to take the required actions.
On the other hand, the Tourism Department of GOA start preparing plans to spend over INR 3 crore to participate in international travel marts. As said by a senior government official, the primary objective of GOA’s participation is to provide a path or a platform for Goan tour operators, travel agents, and hoteliers to showcase their products at the international level.
The main aim is to engage international tourists to GOA for the different segments of Tourism including monsoon, leisure, and medical tourism. He said the concerned agency is ready to create those plans that will be required.
He added in his conversation that the main aim of the state is to participate in exhibitions, arts, and events.The department has assigned agencies to manage Goa tourism’s stalls at the events.As per the records, mainly tourists from Russia and the UK visits Goa. Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte recently said that the state can’t depend on only these two countries.
A senior department official said that the objective of the roadshows that takes place in January and February is only to the compete in the international market and to promote Goa as a safe and world class destination.
Goa tourism has recently revised its strategy towards a more responsible and safe form of tourism in line with its tourism master plan and policy ,2020.
